The Fab Five: Green Nail Polish

From Left to Right
Essie's "The More the Merrier" $8.50
China Glaze's "Re-Fresh Mint" $7.50
Rimmel's "Rags to Riches" $1.99
China Glaze's "Starboard" $4.95
Essie's "Mojito Madness" $8.50

Green nail polishes weren't something I was initially interested in when I first started purchasing nail polishes. I gravitated more towards the blues for a while, but once I got my hands on my first green polish (Re-Fresh Mint), I couldn't be stopped. It seems as if greens have a lot more tonal variety so I have a lot of options in color choice when I'm picking out a green polish.

First up is Essie's "The More the Merrier" which came out in Essie's Naughty Nautical Summer 2013 Collection. It's your token lime green shade leaning a little more on the green side than the yellow side. Like the rest of the Naughty Nautical collection, there are tiny flecks of silver glitter in the polish that show up when the light hits your nails at different angles. It's quite the sight to see and I find myself staring at my nails like a dork whenever I'm wearing one from the collection. I'm not a big fan of glitter polishes usually so this is a great middle-of-the-road option. China Glaze's "Re-Fresh Mint" is up there as one of my favorite polishes of all time. It's a green-tinted mint shade that I love everything about. It checks all the boxes for the perfect mint polish. I'm still on the hunt for a blue-tinted mint shade, but this guy has made the search less important. You need this polish. Seriously.

Every time I try another one of Rimmel's Lasting Finish Pro polishes I'm shocked at how amazing they are for the price. Rimmel's "Rags to Riches" is simply amazing, and for the price it can't be beat. It's a forest green, metallic looking polish but doesn't have any glitter in it. It's incredibly easy to apply to the nail quickly (all thanks to the amazing brush). It lasts ages. China Glaze's "Starboard" is a recent addition to my green polish collection and is one serious green. It's deep, dark, and downright lovely. It's opaque after one coat and is a staple color. It's a fairly old China Glaze polish though so it's really only found on Amazon these days. Finally Essie's "Mojito Madness" has me a bit perplexed. I expected it to be a bit more minty than it actually is, but the shade is lovely regardless. It reminds me a lot of grass actually, so it's the perfect summer polish.

What are your favorite green nail polishes??

Haul: Bath and Body Works Candles

Bath and Body Works Candle "Winter" $20
Bath and Body Works Candle "Spiced Wreath" $20
Bath and Body Works Candle "Kitchen Spice" $20
Bath and Body Works Candle "Nutmeg & Spice No. 1" $20

I picked up a few candles during a recent Bath and Body Works online sale. I ended up paying $35 total after all the sales and deals were applied, so it was definitely worth the purchase considering the candles are using $20 a piece. The biggest challenge was trying to pick scents I would like without smelling them beforehand. Overall I think I did a really great job blindly picking candles! All of the ones I picked except for "Winter" have a rich, spicy scent filled with tones of cinnamon, allspice, and other spices. "Kitchen Spice" literally combines all those things into one, while "Nutmeg & Spice No. 1" has hints of caramel. "Spiced Wreath" has the cinnamon scent along with apples! "Winter" on the other hand is a fresher scent that I can see working well in the bathroom. It has a lot of pine needle undertones and a light woodsy feel. I personally love the spicy scents and can't wait to burn them! It was hard enough not burning them before taking the photos!

Have you purchased any Bath and Body Works Candles lately? Which scent would you get?

theBalm Products 50% Off on Hautelook!

I've wanted to get the Nude'tude Eyeshadow Palette for ages but I couldn't justify spending $36 on yet another neutral eye shadow palette. But then I got an email from Hautelook (something which I usually ignore) and in the subject line was theBalm. I had to check it out. Some of the most popular theBalm products are on sale for 50% off!! WHAT?! Yet another deal that I couldn't pass up and had to share with everyone. I'm going to pick up the Nude'tude palette, but also the famous FratBoy blush and Mary-Lou Manizer Highlight. I'm all sorts of excited, and have promptly thrown my No Beauty Buy out the window.  Plus today is payday because of Thanksgiving break falling on the usual payday. It had to be done. The sale ends on Monday, December 2nd at 8AM Pacific but good sales sell out quickly. If you decide to check it out click the link above or the image to use my referral link and you'll help me out in the process too!

Let me know if you purchase anything!

Overview: Sleek MakeUP

Quite a while ago I placed an order for some Sleek MakeUP products. They took some time to ship since they were coming from the UK, but I was all sorts of excited when they got here! I've been hearing a lot about this brand from the copious amounts of British beauty bloggers I follow, so when I found out I could try them out for myself, I didn't hesitate. I chose a variety of products to get the best sense of the brand and I've been using them for a few weeks now.

The I-Divine in "Vintage Romance" palette was the main product to spur my desire to try out the brand. I've been getting more and more interested in purple shades and the palette had a lot of variety. It's a bit too shimmery for my liking as I hate it when bits of glitter fallout on to my cheeks and for the life of me I can't get them off unless I remove basically all my makeup. If I'm extremely careful though, I usually can get all the product on my lids without much fallout. The colors are extremely pigmented, but take some time to blend together evenly. Overall it's a great palette that I'm happy to have in my collection for night looks and days where I'm looking for a lot of sparkle.

I chose the Blush in "Pixie Pink"  based on the fact it was so bright. I tend to go towards more "flush" looking blushes and I wanted to see what a blush that packed a lot of color looked like. If applied lightly, this blush adds a very nice wash of color to the cheeks. It is a bit chalky though so you really have to blend it in if you have skin like mine that shows off chalky really well. It's not a blush I will be reaching for all that often, but it definitely helps to round out my collection.

The Glo Face and Body Highlighter in "Bronze Baby" I was really excited for after seeing all the hip over the Bobbi Brown Shimmer Bricks. I didn't see the value in dropping over $40 so when I saw this on the Sleek website I was eager to see if it could possibly be a dupe. It isn't. It's somewhat difficult to work with and maybe it's because I have yet to get past the glittery top coat to the meat and potatoes of the product beneath. There's just something about it that makes it not look right on my skin. I'm still working with it though in the hopes that I can figure out the trick to it.

The True Colour Lipstick in "Baby Doll" was a last minute purchase that I regret deeply. As soon as I put it on my lips I knew I had made a very poor decision. It reminds me very much of the NYX Matte Lipsticks I reviewed quite a while ago. It's incredibly unflattering, shows all the flakes and marks on your lips, and is a downright ugly color to be honest.

Overall I think Sleek MakeUP has some promising products like their palettes, but is not a brand I'll be running back to for lipsticks or highlighters any time soon. It's one of those brands where you can get really lucky, or get really crappy products.

Have you tried Sleek MakeUp before? What is your favorite product from the brand?

The 60 Day No Beauty Buy: Day 30

I am insanely impressed with how I did these past 10 days since my last update *toots own horn*. Mostly because I've had a tab open on my laptop for weeks with an order from REN, and I haven't clicked purchase yet. I still remember the days when I could order things online that didn't total over $50, but that's definitely a thing of the past these days. I desperately want those REN products, and I technically made the No Beauty Buy just about makeup, but I'm trying to practice some self-restraint. So far so good.

However Black Friday is fast approaching, and I keep seeing amazing beauty deals that have me itching to abandon all restraint and go crazy. They are just so tempting!! I will be buying beauty gifts for friends and sorority sisters, but I just need to try really hard to keep an eye on the personal spending.

Over the past couple of weeks I've come up with a method I think will help me in keeping an eye on my beauty spending. I've decided I want to open another checking account apart from the checking and savings accounts I already have, that is strictly for frivolous beauty/fashion related purposes. That way I'll know exactly how much money I have to spend and won't see my "need to have to survive and eat" balance and think I have more to spend then I do.

What ways do you keep track of your spending? I'm always curious to learn different methods and strategies!

My Favorite Beauty Blogs #3

I started to get the feeling that a new Favorite Beauty Blogs post was in order and it's almost been exactly one month since my last post. So I think I'll make this a monthly occurrence depending on the number of new blogs I discover (there has been tons this past month). So here are some amazingly wonderful blogs created by some fantastic women.

A new blog find this past month that caught my attention with this post about saving money when you're a blogger or shopping addicted. Any motivation to help me keep on my no beauty buy is welcomed! Once I read that post I found myself an hour later still reading. Her photos are amazing, her writing engaging, and her self photos showing off lip products are done amazingly well. That's something I still struggle with so seeing how she does it helps me get ideas and figure out ways to improve.

Another new find that I've enjoyed reading this past month. Amy reviews a lot of products I'm familiar with so it makes me feel like I'm not a complete ignorant dweeb. Her photo style is also really unique and different from the other blogs I read. Some variation is good and she definitely does that!

Lauren's photography. Swoon. No matter what the post is about I immediately click through the bloglovin' link to look at her photographs. The backgrounds are relevant and engaging. I just don't get bored on her site and end up reading posts that are months old before I realize what I'm doing. Her product choices are amazing, which doesn't help in the saving money department since I end up wanting to buy everything!

Girl with Makeup

A very new blog added to my bloglovin' feed, I can already tell it's going to cause trouble for my wallet. Emma's recent MAC lipstick post had me craving a new one for my collection. I promptly went out and got "Plumful" and am all sorts of happy. She shares a lot of the same product interests as I do and her photography is to die for. Apparently I am easily smitten with good photography when it comes to blogs, but it's important!

Style & Splurging

First off, Charlotte is one amazingly interesting person. She and I have had quite the extensive email conversation going and I just love her. Her blog reflects just how amazing she is. I trust her reviews and she talks about products that are interesting to me or something I would be interested in. I can't say enough good things about her!!

So if you have a free afternoon, explore some beauty blogs and fall in love! If you check out any of these lovely ladies' sites, let them know Kayla from MicroscopeBeauty sent you ( :

Sunday Stuff #2

I wasn't in a crazy pamper mood today, so I used just a few treats for my skin and hair. I treated my hair with the L'Oreal Power Moisture Moisture Rush Mask to add a little moisture to it after a long week and a lot of strong winds. For skin I did my usual routine, but added in a step. The Body Shop Vitamin C Facial Radiance Capsules are $1 a piece, so I tend to save them for rare, you-deserve-it occasions. I wrote a whole review about them, and decided today was a good day to add that extra silky feeling to my face. I followed everything up with Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask which doesn't smell particularly pleasing to me, but adds a lot of moisture to my face. I definitely plan on going to bed early.

What did you do this Sunday?

This Week's Most Loved #5

I've been experimenting with a lot of new products lately and have a few new loves this week. I've been playing with the One Night Stand Cheek Palette for different looks and moods. It's a fantastic palette which I become more and more happy about owning with every use. My only complaint is that the shade names aren't clearly marked. "Plumful" is my new favorite lip shade as its slightly darker than my beloved "Syrup" which makes it great for the end of fall moving into winter. I'm in absolutely love! This week I've returned to an old favorite, my NYX Eye Shadow Base in "Skin Tone". This is the best base I've ever used and after a few weeks of trying other shadow bases I missed this little guy. I've written a review about it a while ago, and still love it. I've barely made a dent in the container as well so I'll be owning this for a long time. Finally, I keep reaching for my Origins GinZing Energy-Boosting Moisturizer over my other moisturizers. It's light, smells like oranges, and doesn't leave my skin feeling packed with product. It's been amazing!

What products have you been loving this week?

xoxo Kayla

Current Beauty Wishlist #2

One of the best ways I've been able to combat not buying anything lately is by putting anything and everything I could possibly want to get onto a list. Writing it on the list makes me feel like I'm one step closer to actually owning it without actually owning it (weird I know). It seems to be working, but my lists just keep getting longer and longer. Here are just a few new desires from that list.

I've read about this pretty expensive shampoo on a number of different blogging sites. One reason that I'm even considering purchasing it is the fact that I would only use it once a week (likely on Sundays) so it'll last quite a while. It's said to remove all the grimy build-up from days of heavy hair product use (something I've started doing more) and any other nasty stuff that gets into your hair on a day to day basis. I like the idea of a shampoo that purifies my hair to keep it clean and healthy.

I've been hearing a lot about these babies since they recently hit the drugstore. I'm not one for lipgloss, but this product definitely has been calling to me. It seems much more pigmented than the average lip gloss, so I'm interested to give it a shot. "Mauve Mystique" was my immediate favorite from the shade choices as it's very close to my natural lip color. I've been on this kick of getting "my lips, but better" shades lately.

My skincare addiction doesn't seem to have an end in sight any time soon. Essiebutton recently made a video about this mask (and others) which confirmed my suspicions that it's something I would want. My skin has been getting spotty and dry lately, so I really think this product can help clean out the pores and get my skin back to normal.

Yet another face mask. I can't help myself! I've had my eye on this guy for months and it goes in and out of my online shopping basket as I fight with myself trying not to spend money right now when I need to be saving for the holidays. The fact that it's a gel mask has my interest peaked even more.

I currently only use one facial cleanser and I like having a few different options within a category to not allow my skin to get used to one product in particular. I like to switch it up every once and a while. This face polisher is for brightening, something my skin desperately needs.

What products have you been lusting for lately?

xoxo Kayla

The Fab Five: Pink Nail Polish

Left to Right
Essie's "The Girls Are Out" $8.50
China Glaze's "Diva Bride" $5.49
Flower's "May Flowers" $4.98
China Glaze's "Flip Flop Fantasy" $5.49
Essie's "Mamba" $8.50

Back with another Fab Five post (read the first one)! This one featuring my top five pink nail polish picks. It took me a while to get into wearing pink nail polish, but once I got my first taste (on accident), the rest was history! Essie's "The Girls Are Out" is your typical hot pink polish, with a twist. There is tons of silver glitter packed into this small bottle, and the shade looks amazing on the nails. It's definitely a summer color though as it is one of the brightest polishes I own. The next polish is on the complete other side of the pink spectrum. China Glaze's "Diva Bride" reminds me more of ballet slippers than a bride. It's a soft pink that takes a few coats to really show up on the nail, but its worth the effort. This polish is my ideal date night polish. It's feminine and just wonderful. Flower's "May Flowers" is a middle of the road pink. The polish applies really well and has average staying power. It's more matte (if that's a thing) than the other polishes as it doesn't contain any glitter. China Glaze's "Flip Flop Fantasy" was my first experience with pink polish and like I said previously, it was a complete mistake. I had ordered another polish from amazon and this baby showed up in its place. The company sent me the right polish and let me keep this one. This polish takes matte to a whole new level. It dries without any shine and took a while to get used to. It's quite bright, but leans a bit on the orangey side. Finally Essie's "Mamba" is my favorite of all the pink polishes. There's just something about its subtle salmon shade that makes me all sorts of happy inside.

What are your favorite pink polish?

The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Post

Brittany from Life, Set Sail posted this tag and I couldn't resist doing it. The photo is also hers!

1. Thank the tagger and link them in the post.
2. State that this tag was created by The Beau Bow.
3. Copy and paste the rules.
4. Tag some more beauty bloggers and link them to the post.
5. Title this The Procrastinating Beauty Blogger Post so readers know what the post is about.
6. Have fun!

1. Name a beauty regime that you rarely do.
I used to never wash my face or have a skin care regime. I was terrible at taking off my makeup at the end of the night. I've been trying really hard lately to get into a routine. Some really awesome products have made me really excited to wash my face!

2. Is washing your make-up brushes something you do regularly?
I wash them fairly regularly, but I definitely need to wash them more frequently than I already do. I'm actually going to wash them after this post is done being written!

3. How long will you last with chipped nail polish?
I usually wait until the end of the day to either touch the chip up or remove them completely. As long as the chip is small I don't really mind.

4. How long do you put off buying/ replacing a beauty or nail polish product, even if you need it? (E.g. purchasing a new top coat or foundation).
If I absolutely need the product (like shampoo) I tend to go that day if I can fit it into my schedule. Other less, pressing repurchases I tend to get within the week.

5. What is your worst beauty habit?
I have a terrible habit of pulling at my eyes. Be it to put on eyeliner or under eye cream I can get a little too rough with them and that's not good!

6. Name something non-beauty related that you put off all the time.
I despise doing the laundry. I can go about two weeks without feeling the hurt of not having enough clothes, and by then the laundry is overflowing from the basket between my boyfriend's and my clothing. I actually just bought another laundry basket. I'm sure that's not going to help get the laundry done sooner.

7. When going out somewhere do you leave getting ready to last minute or not?
I give myself too much time to get ready. I end up sitting watching YouTube videos waiting to leave at an appropriate time. I always think getting ready is going to take way longer than it does.

8. Can you commit to a spending ban?
I'm currently on a spending ban, and I haven't been super successful. I have however slowed down my spending because of it quite a lot. It's allowed me a lot of time to explore the products I already own. Plus I have tons samples to use.

9. How organized is your make-up and nail polish collection?
My make-up and nail polish collection is pretty organized. I wouldn't say it's perfect, but I tend to reorganize every couple of weeks or so just because I love doing it so much. My nail polish collection has grown quite a bit so it's starting to grow out of its current organization.

10. What is the longest amount of time you have gone without writing a blog post?
The longest I've gone is about two weeks right when my last semester of college started. I was having trouble with figuring out my schedule and to find enough time to blog on top of working, classes, and writing my senior thesis. I got right back into it as soon as I could though because blogging brings me so much comfort and it's my way to relax.

First Impressions: Ipsy's November Glam Bag

November Ipsy Glam Bag $10 a month

If you already watched my open bag video opening this November Ipsy Glam Bag (you can watch it below if you haven't), then you are well aware of how taken aback I was by a lot of the seriously flashy products in the bag. It'll be interesting to see how I get on with everything being so "glam".

I've already fallen in love with the Be a Bombshell lip crayon (it's such a nice shade on me), and the Nailtini nail polish. I was a bit worried about it being crazy metallic, but I've already applied it to my nails and it's much more wearable than expected. I don't really have an interested in the em lip balm or (yet another) Starlooks pencil. Also if I get another Cailyn product I will not be pleased.

That's something that's starting to really bother me about Ipsy. We keep getting the same brands, which is frustrating as there are so many brands out there (and even in the quiz they have you take), yet we keep seeing the same things again and again. I'm not interested in owning the entire Starlooks pencil collection. I want more variety.

What are your thoughts on this bag?

Review: October Ipsy Glam Bag

October Ipsy Glam Bag $10 a month

La Fresh Eco-Beauty Oil-Free Face Cleanser Wipes
I was incredibly excited for these wipes when I opened my bag in the middle of October, but they quickly disappointed me after just one use. The smell put me off immediately and they didn't remove any of my makeup. My skin was left feeling greasy and like there was a layer of grime on it. Not pleasant.

Zoya Nail Polish in "Giovanna"
I really liked the Zoya polish I received in a past Ipsy bag, so I was pretty jazzed to see another one in this month's. The color is an amazing blue/teal and it lasts well on the nails without a top coat. However this polish really stained my nails when I removed it. I'm not sure if it's just the dark shade because my last Zoya polish was a white, or what, but it took quite a lot of effort to get my nails back to a normal shade again. I still really love the color and have a feeling I'll continue to use to polish regardless of the staining.

Nourish Organic Deeply Nourishing Coconut & Argan Body Lotion
By far my favorite product of this month's Ipsy, this lotion is amazing. It's just the right thickness and sinks into the skin nicely. I can't put my finger on the scent as it isn't very coconut-y, but I love it regardless. Once my No Beauty Buy is up I'm headed straight to Target to get myself a full sized container of this stuff. It's that awesome.

Sexy Hair Blow Dry Volumizing Gel
I used this gel to add some grit to my hair before getting it done for a recent wedding. It left my hair feeling fairly dry, but not necessarily brittle. It did add some volume, but it's definitely not a gift from heaven on the volume front (sadly enough). It's quite a large sample so I'll have it for a while, but I won't be buying the full size of it when I run out of the sample.

Buxom Full-On Lip Polish in "Dolly"
This product was downright weird. The shade is lovely, but when I put it on my lips it was thick, sticky, and made my lips tingle. Not just a light minty tingle, but a full fledged something is happening to my face tingle. I was not a fan and have since moved this lipgloss into my don't want stash to hopefully pass off on a friend who doesn't mind the intense tingle.

Overall my expectations for this bag after I opened it ended up being a little to high. There were a few pretty good products, but still not sending me over the moon with joy and bliss. I'm hopeful for next month's (as per usual), but I'm starting to wonder if I should save my money and use it to buy samples I know I'll like.

What are your thoughts on this month's bag?

xoxo Kayla

This Week's Most Loved #4

This week's most loved is a mix of classics and new favorites. I've been using a lot of mascara samples lately, but this past week I've returned to Maybelline Volum'Express The Rocket Mascara, a tried and true favorite. It volumizes my lashes quickly without much effort and instantly improves my makeup look. My face just doesn't seem complete without mascara! I've returned to another old favorite, my Maybelline Eye Studio Color Tattoo in "Bad to the Bronze". This baby is great for mornings when I have to wake up early and find myself running late. I just swipe this lovely shade on my eyelids, put on some mascara, and head out the door. I've been wearing Essie's "Wrapped in Rubies" this week on my nails and completely love the color. It's a deep burgundy red that screams Thanksgiving. The only downfall is that it seems to to chip more often than other Essie nail polishes. I've had to touch it up almost daily but I just can't change it just yet. In the mornings I've been testing out the Origins GinZing Refreshing Eye Cream to Brighten and Depuff  which I got in the Origins Morning to Night Set. I've fallen instantly in love with it this stuff. I can actually see it working in the mornings to brighten and make me look less tired. It's absolutely wonderful!

What products have you been loving this week?

Sunday Stuff #1

If I'm lucky I get to have a slow Sunday filled with watching Netflix and working on blog posts. When those magical, stress free days do come up, I try to take the most of them and pamper myself a little bit. These have been the products I've been reaching towards to soothe tired feet and dry skin.

First up is LUSH Mint Julips. No stranger to this blog, this little guy has changed my world. Or at the very least my lips. I have a tendency to nibble on my lips when I'm nervous and this helps take away all that dead skin and make my lips ready for lipsticks and kisses. Plus it smells and tastes like mint! I've had this LUSH Volcano Foot Mask and haven't used very much of it yet. To me, if I have time for a foot mask, I must be in a complete state of relaxation. I don't know if you've ever used a foot mask before, but it makes mobility practically impossible for 10-15 minutes. Not something a busy-body like me has time for usually. It's not too abrasive and leaves my feet feeling softer than before. It's not a compete miracle worker on the feet, but it smells like cinnamon and nutmeg and is nice regardless. For my face I've been reaching for the Michael Todd Jojoba Charcoal Facial Scrub. It's not as abrasive as my Body Shop Vitamin C Microdermabrasion scrub and since my skin has been acting super sensitive lately it's been a better choice overall. It's a dark purple color and has a scent I'm not overly fond of, but can look past since it works so nicely. Lastly I finish my pampering with The Body Shop Coconut Body ButterIt's quite thick and takes some time to sink into the skin, but leaves it feeling smooth for longer than any other body butters I've used. Simply delightful scent as well.

What products do you use when you have a pampering Sunday?

The 60 Day No Beauty Buy: Day 20

So in the past ten days since my last No Beauty Buy update, I've fallen off the wagon. Hard. This task is hard enough any time of year, but I decided to try it during the holiday season, where amazing gift sets and limited edition products are popping up everywhere. It's been difficult. So I may have picked up a pretty pricey limited edition palette out of fear it would be gone before my No Beauty Buy was up. It was just to wonderful to say no to. However, despite my set back, I feel like I've been doing a pretty fantastic job with this. I have completely avoided drug store makeup and haven't set foot in an Ulta in what feels like ages. I've been doing an amazing job avoiding tangible things, it's just the online shopping that is still tempting me. It's just so easy, so comfy, and the deals convince me. I never thought I'd be able to do the no buy without any hiccups, but I've regained my focus for the next leg of the task!

If you're interested in reading why I started the No Beauty Buy, you can read the first post. What kinds of holiday products have gotten you opening your wallet lately?

Origins Morning to Night Set

When I began my No Beauty Buy I purposely left a little loophole for myself. I put a buying band specifically on makeup, but in my mind I excluded skin care. Skin care is something I've been trying to get more into lately and Origins was a brand that instantly popped into my head when thinking about where to start exploring. However I never seem to know where to start with a new brand. Thanks to awesome holiday gift sets (my weakness) the decision making process becomes much easier. Instead of having to choose between a number of full sized, full priced products, I just have to choose a category and get a sample set! I choose the Morning to Night Set because it has the moisturizer I've had my eye on as well as the overnight mask which I've been hearing a decent amount about.

What's most surprising about this set is how large the products are. I was expecting some measly samples that would be gone in a flash too quickly for me to form a real opinion. I had hoped that wouldn't be the case, but I know how samples can go. However when I opened this bad boy up I was shocked at how large everything was. They seem like full sizes to me! They'll definitely last a lot longer than I expected!

I'm excited to give this brand a good exploration and see if any of the products does wonders to my skin. If you'd like a specific review on one of the products, let me know in the comments!

Which product from the set would you like to try?

Bath & Body Works Candle Sale!

I've determined if I find a deal I just can't pass up, I'm going to share it with all of you just in case! I haven't been one to go crazy over Bath & Body Works Candles, but I've picked up a few and very much enjoy them. I was interested in trying some of the winter scents but haven't gotten the chance to go to the store and sniff any of them. When I saw the deal to get 2 for $22 my interest was peaked, but then if you use the code MIDNIGHT10 you get $10 off your $30 purchase and free shipping. So I took the chance and went with names of candles I'm sure I'll like without giving them a good smell. I'm a little worried, but I walked away with four candles for a little over $35 when I would have had to have paid upwards of $80 without any sales or discounts!

So if you like candles, use MIDNIGHT10 and get some now before the deal is gone!!!

Sephora's Merry Crazy Sample Blitz Free Gift with Purchase: Holly Jolly Nourisment

Sephora is having an online only deal for beauty insider right now that if you spend $25 and use the code BLITZ you'll be prompted to choose one of four different sets with 8 fairly decent sized samples you'd like to receive. When I browsed the sets being offered I kept gravitating back towards the "Holly Jolly Nourishment" Bag. I had really been wanting to try more Origins products, and all the other brands in this bag I recognized and wouldn't mind trying another product in their line. The desire for this free gift with purchase helped to push me to break my No Beauty Buy and purchase the NARS limited addition Guy Bourdin blush palette. I had wanted the palette prior to knowing about the free gift, but it was just reason enough to abandon all restraint and whip out my credit card.

The gift set includes: Living Proof Nourishing Styling Cream, Origins Planscription SPF 25 Anti-Aging Cream, Living Proof Prime Style Extender (this wasn't in the photo on the website but I'm happy to get to try it), Fresh Sugar Lip Treatment in "Petal", Clean Original Eau de Parfum, Urban Decay B6 Vitamin-Infused Complexion Prep Spray, Too Faced Tinted Beauty Balm in "Nude Glow", and Buxom Mascara. It's quite the line up of products to try out and I couldn't be more excited!

Have you looked at the different free with purchase gift bags on Which one would you get?

NARS Guy Bourdin Holiday Collection Limited Edition One Night Stand Cheek Palette

So I guess when I fall off the No Beauty Buy wagon, I fall off hard. This palette is by far the most expensive single beauty item I have ever purchased. I thought about it though for quite some time and just decided that it was limited addition, an investment (since it includes the notorious "Laguna" and "Deep Throat" which I know I would have eventually looked into), and I was also about to get one of the sample sets Sephora was giving out for the holidays (more on this to come).

The palette contains: "Laguna" (bottom left), "Deep Throat" (top right), "Orgasm" (bottom middle), Mistinguette (top middle), Goulue (bottom right), Devotee (top left). It has a amazing range of colors and shimmer levels, but doesn't have any labels on the packaging for which shade is which. I had to do some internet searching to even guess which color was which as I'm not very well rehearsed in NARS blush shades. I'm still not 100% sure which shade is which, so if I'm wrong please let me know!

I took this palette with me to the wedding I was in for one of my sorority sisters. Every bridesmaid ended up using the palette because it was so versatile and had colors that flattered every one of them regardless of their skin tone. Most of them ended up using "Deep Throat" while I wore "Orgasm". "Deep Throat" looked absolutely amazing on them and stayed on their cheeks the entire day.

I still have yet to explore "Laguna" and "Devotee" as I don't do too much highlighting or bronzing, but I'm eager to give them a shot! Overall after my first few uses, I love this palette.

Would you consider purchasing this palette? Which shade is your favorite?

This Week's Most Loved #3

This past week was a whirlwind of thesis writing and being in a wedding for one of my sorority sisters. These three products were what I grabbed often during this past week. The Nourish Organic Coconut & Argan Body Lotion is one of the products I got in my October Ipsy Glam Bag that I really have been loving just throwing in my hand bag and using on the go. It's a fairly thick lotion, but soaks in quickly and leaves my hands feeling moisturized and ready to take on whatever is next on my to do list. LUSH Mint Julips' shining moment this week was right before the wedding. The bride asked to use it before she applied her lipstick to go and kiss her groom. I'm so happy with this product and glad it could come in handy on such an important day. My MAC Lipstick in "Syrup" has been my constant companion for not only this week, but since I purchased it. It's my lips, but better. I feel bad for all my other lipsticks because they cannot even compete with this guy.

What products have you been loving this week?

Holiday Non-Beauty Wishlist

This wishlist was a lot harder to make than the beauty wishlist. I literally had to stop putting things on that list. However after a few minutes on ModCloth I had found a number of different adorable things I would love to have!

I love baking. And foxes. This apron is just too adorable. I've been looking at aprons for a couple of months now but hadn't found one I really liked until I spotted this one.

One of my biggest problems with writing is trying to figure out what to write about. This book seems really awesome in helping promote creativity and writing.

This bag. Holy crap do I love this bag. It's so beautiful and well structured. It screams preppy chic and I want it in my life. for $85 though I doubt I'll ever see this beauty in real life, but it's nice to dream!

I am not one for mustard color dresses, but this one is a huge exception. The collar detailing is unbelievably beautiful and I can just imagine this dress fitting amazingly well. It's definitely a unique statement dress unlike anything I've seen.

I'm a huge Doctor Who fan, so when I saw this ornament in the gifts section I had to include it. Who wouldn't want a dalek on their tree?

Like I said before I'm an avid baker. The concept of this book really interests me. It's all about different ways to make the classic chocolate chip cookie. I'm definitely intrigued!

What's on your wishlist this year??

Holiday Beauty Wishlist

With my 60 Day No Beauty Buy continuing on past the holidays I'm going to have to try my best not to buy myself anything this year. So I figured I could make a beautiful little wishlist just in case someone lovely in my life stumbles upon it looking for ideas! If you asked me a year or two ago what I wanted for Christmas, I wouldn't have had a single beauty product on it. Now look at me! Needing two wishlists to cover my beauty and non-beauty desires (the non-beauty wishlist will be posted soon)!

1. A Subscription to Beauty Box Five $12/month
I just love beauty subscription boxes. So when I started doing research and found out there were a lot of really good ones out there, I couldn't help but want more than just my Ipsy subscription. I haven't heard a lot about Beauty Box Five on YouTube or in the blogging world, which interests me even more to give it a shot!

2. Michael Todd Skincare Discovery Kit for Normal Skin $36
Ever since I got my first Michael Todd product in an Ipsy bag, I've been curious to see what the brand is all about. Sample kits are fantastic in that way for letting you try tons of different products without having to pay full price for them all! It's cool that Michael Todd offers kits for different skin types too so you'll be sure to get the right products!

3. REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask $34
My obsession with REN is at an all time high right now and believe it or not, I've never even tried one of their products before. I read so many rave reviews about all sorts of REN products that I had the hardest time even picking one to lust after (hence why #5 is a kit), but this mask seems like just the thing to start my (expensive) love affair with REN. I would love a product that can just get deep into my pores and clean out all sorts of junk in there. This guy seems like the perfect candidate!

4. MAC 239 Eye Shadow Brush $25
I've been lusting over this brush for a few months now but can't muster up the courage to get it myself. Plus I wanted to buy a beauty product as my first MAC purchase before getting anything else. I don't know why, it just felt like the right thing to do. When contemplating brushes I always tend to stay safe and look for my most used brush, the shadow brush. I also want to see what all the hype is about surrounding MAC brushes.

5. REN Rediscover Radiance Kit $58
As I said above I'd love to get this kit to really try out a few different products from REN before investing some serious money into skin care. This kit tackles one of my biggest skin problems, dullness, so it was a match made in heaven. With the sticker price of $58 though, I have a feeling this kit will remain on the wish list for quite a while.

6. MAC 217 Blending Brush $24
The first MAC brush I had my eyes on, the MAC 217. I have yet to find the perfect blending brush as my Real Techniques one is just to flat topped to work the way I want it to. I want this brush. I need this brush. If I wasn't trying really hard to stick to my No Beauty Buy I would already have this brush. Here's hoping some darling friend of mine swoops in and saves the day with this one.

7. Stila "In the Light" Palette $39
This has probably been on my wishlist the longest. I just keep buying other palettes instead of this one and it remains patiently waiting on the list. I love the blue shades that come with this palette as I haven't really gotten into exploring them yet. Plus I'm a sucker for a good neutrals palette any day of the week.

8. Urban Decay Revolution Lipstick in "Rush" $22
When these beautiful creations came out I avoided them like the plague. I didn't even want to see the color options because I just knew I would love them. When reviews started popping up they confirmed that these beauties were moisturizing, pigmented wonders. I had to include one out of the sheer hope that maybe it'll land in my lap this holiday season.

What beauty products are you hoping to get for the holidays?

The Fab Five: Purple Nail Polish

From Left to Right
Avon's "Midnight Plum" $6
Essie's "Full Steam Ahead" $8.50
Rimmel's "Wild Orchid" $1.99
China Glaze's "Spontaneous" $6.29
Essie's "Damsel in a Dress" $8.50

This is a new type of post I've decided to start doing where I feature five products within a category. The first of these "Fab Five" posts will be all about nail polish!

I don't know what it is but this fall I've been all about the purples. I seem to have collected quite the collection and had some trouble picking just five because I have such a wide range of shades within the color category. First up is Avon's "Midnight Plum", the darkest shade in my collection. It appears almost black on the nails until light hits it in just the right way. The application is fairly pigmented but I definitely think you have to apply two coats to get the opaque look I'm sure you're going for. On the other side of the spectrum is Essie's "Full Steam Ahead". This lavender shade I picked up when Essie's Naughty Nautical Summer 2013 Collection came out. It has little silver pieces of glitter that just radiate in the light and it's such a wonderful shade that will transition well into winter. Next up is Rimmel's "Wild Orchid". Besides this being an amazing light violet shade, I have to rant about the brush for a minute. It's amazing! It's thick and flat and puts just the right amount of product on the nail in a very opaque easy to apply coat. Another staple that should be in anyone's nail polish collection is China Glaze's "Spontaneous". When I think of purple I see this color. It's opaque after one coat but out of habit I always do two. It's matte but has a light sheen to it. Finally, if you've been reading my other posts lately, you know I'm just nuts about Essie's "Damsel in a Dress". It's a lovely mix between a deep plum and a maroon shade that transitions depending on what light you're in. It's a statement nail color that always gets attention when I wear it!

What are your favorite purple nail polishes?
