The Dressing Table: Part One

Living with your significant other in a small apartment can make having personal space nearly impossible. Alex and I strive to give each other certain spaces in the apartment that are completely our own. My dressing table is my little space where I spend a lot of time at each day getting ready, taking blog photos, and working on posts. I thought I'd start a little series sharing the various parts of this little space, starting with the right side desk top.

This section of my dressing table has only recently been developed. I found this nine-drawer system at T.J. Maxx and couldn't stop myself from scooping it up. Only one of the drawers contains any products at the moment and I'm still working on figuring out what I want to keep in the somewhat limiting drawers. Right now I keep my Mint Julips lip scrub ($9.95), Origins GinZing Energy-boosting Moisturizer ($26.50), and my large sample of Origins GinZing Refreshing eye cream to brighten and depuff (full size $30). I use the Origins products every morning, but don't want to leave them cluttering my counter top. I reach for my lip scrub probably once or twice a week so I like having it readily available.

On the desktop I keep whatever candle I'm burning at the moment. Right now I'm still finishing up a winter Bath and Body Works Candle in "Nutmeg and Spice No. 1" which is no longer available. On top of the drawer system I keep my q-tips, a photo of Alex and I zip lining in the Dominican Republic (watch the video from that day!), my little dinosaur (who needs a name!), and a silly award Alex got me. It's been a running joke between us that I've been working to beat the longest relationship he's had before me. He surprised me with this award on a recent anniversary. That boy thinks he's hilarious.

Stay tuned for more installments on other sections of my dressing table!

xoxo Kayla

  1. It looks lovely and so neat! I want to get a mini-drawer type of organizer too, but I have yet to find one. And I'm exactly the same - living in a small apartment with the bf - I get you, hehe :P

  2. Those little drawers are adorable - such a good, vintage-chic alternative to the classic Muji makeup drawers!

  4. AH! I LOVE the 9 drawer system! I think its super cool you both mindfully dedicate spaces individually. Good call!
