The Dressing Table: Part Two

I'm back with part two of my dressing table series (part one) to share with you the little bits and bobs I keep on top of my ALEX Drawer unit with 9 drawers ($119). The drawers contain my makeup, LUSH collection, and other goodies, but we won't be going into all that with this post. I keep a decent amount of stuff on top of the drawers and at times I find it a bit cluttered. Once Alex and I move into a bigger place I'll find new homes for these keepsakes, but until then.

To the left hanging on the wall I keep my three race metals. About two years ago I started power walking (I'm a strangely fast walker) in 5K races and recently started running them. I keep my race bibs on the wall above the dressing table with a photo from the race. I think I've done eight or so total. On top of the drawer system I have a large medallion I received from getting first place in my age group for an 8K walk in 2012. Behind it is a little jar I keep spare buttons in just to keep them on hand. Next to it is a photo of Alex and I at New Years when we were on our cruise last December (watch the video).

Behind the photo is a photo box where I keep mementos from Alex and my relationship. Everything from letters to a Santa hat from when we did a 5k race in Santa suits one winter. On top of the box I have this incredibly old shell covered box that I keep movie ticket stubs in. I started saving them back in 2005 and it's become a habit of mine to put them in there after I return from a movie. Behind that is a container I made with rolled up magazines that holds my very small perfume collection.

The last two items are a couple of my favorite things. First is a vintage face powder I found at a local antique shop. I love to imagine the woman who used this powder and think about what times were like back when this was a popular item. It's crazy to see how much makeup has changed aesthetically. Finally the Tardis. This needs a bit of back story to make sense. Alex and I credit Doctor Who for bringing us together and starting our relationship. Alex hand made me this police box from the famous BBC television show and gave it to me when he asked me to be his girlfriend. He used a carton that a six-pack of beer comes in and spent a good three days making it. It even lights up. I still have no idea how he managed to do it, but it's one of my most cherished possessions. There's more to the story, but I'm getting off topic. Maybe I'll share it on my lifestyle blog...

What are some keepsakes that mean a lot to you? How do you store them? Do you tuck them away or leave them on display?

xoxo Kayla

  1. I also have a box of things from my relationship<3 It is in a box that is covered with daises. I love to pull it out and read through them all the time. My room is full of pictures of my family and I. I also have a lot of thing with sayings all around. Almost every jewelry box of mine has a quote on top!

  2. Lovee the shell covered box!
