The Palette Edit

I've been getting such positive feedback from my Foundation and Blush  posts that I thought I'd keep the ball rolling and tackle a big beast this time. Oh palettes. How you take my money time and time again and I'm more than happy to fork it over.

The first palette I ever purchased was the Urban Decay Naked Basics Palette ($28). I really wanted one of the currently two naked palettes, but was just getting into makeup and couldn't convince myself to spend that much money on makeup yet. Oh how those tables have turned. The Basics palette was a perfect start for me though and I still love it. It offers six matte shades that create a lovely natural eye. The pigmentation is exceptional and this palette may be my favorite one I've tried from Urban Decay as it doesn't have much fall out. Definitely a good palette to gift to someone, to travel with, or to create simple everyday looks.

The LORAC Pro Palette ($42) fell into my life when I was feeling particularly spendy. It got a lot of love when I first owned it, but now it's definitely fallen into the unloved category. I love the variations of colors the palette offers, but there's just a little too much fall out for my liking and I don't find them as easily blendable as other palettes. The lighter shades are also difficult to build up on the eye. I am happy to have it in my collection though because of shades like "Pewter" and "Garnet".

Finally, after a lot of lusting and back and forth between the second palette, the Urban Decay Naked Palette ($52) entered the scene. I opted for it over Naked 2 because there were more shades in the first one that I felt I would wear than the second. I'm not going to go on too much about this palette since the internet is saturated with Naked palette talk, but it's a lovely option for bronze, natural looks. They blend together well and I only deal with fall out if I'm not being careful or am in a rush.

The NARS Guy Bourdin One Night Stand Cheek Palette was limited edition near the end of last year, but I couldn't help but include it in the palette mix. It's the one and only limited edition product I ever scooped up since it contains a lot of famous NARS blush shades like "Orgasm" and "Deep Throat". The blushes really are lovely and the palette comes in handy for things like weddings when everyone in the wedding party has different skin tones. My only compliant is the size of the pans. It gets a bit difficult to get in there and get product on a brush.

Saving the best for last, theBalm's NUDE'tude Palette ($36) is worth every penny and more. If you take anything away from this post, it should be that you need this palette. It has a lovely, unique range of shades that depart from the neutrals but isn't too adventurous. The two pink shades are my favorite as they have kept my desire for the Naked 3 Palette at bay. The colors blend effortlessly together, this is no fall out, and they last for ages. This palette is an absolute dream.

What is your favorite palette?

  7. The one by theBalm looks pretty - all my palettes are neutrals, like you said it's a bit of a departure from neutral but not too adventurous :-) xx

  8. I loved this post - my one great weakness is neutral palettes, and I'm itching to grab my back card and place an order now! I'm currently weighing up whether I'll purchase Naked 1 or 2 next!
