Disappointing Products

I, like probably everyone else, just hate it when products suck. The advertising of them talks this big game and you spend your hard earned pennies on them, just to discover they're nothing special. Worse than nothing special, they're awful or screw up your skin. I've been really fortunate lately to have had a lot of success with products, but you just can't escape a dud every now and again.

I actually really liked the Almay Smart Shade CC Cream Complexion Corrector ($9.99) when I first started using it. It applied and blended well and left my skin with a nice glow. I also loved that it had SPF 35. It was very close to my perfect shade and everything seemed swell. Man did it do something weird to my skin. I don't know how to exactly describe it, but my skin started feeling flush and just generally aggravated. It didn't cause me to break out, but my skin was not happy with this stuff. I immediately stopped using it and my skin went back to being happy. I have since given this to a friend and she seems to really enjoy it. I very rarely have issues with my skin not liking a product, but there was just something about this stuff that didn't sit well.

I've done a full review on the L'Oréal Voluminous Butterfly Mascara ($8.99) before so I won't go into too much detail here. It was just so anti-climatic when I used this. The only thing it really did was make my lashes blacker. No volume, no length. The packaging is stunning, but at the end of the day it's what is inside the packaging that really counts.

Finally the Neutrogena 3-in-1 Concealer for Eyes Broad Spectrum SPF 20 ($8.99) from a recent drugstore haul seemed incredibly promising, but after just the first use I knew this was a dud. It didn't blend in very well at all, and left my under eye area streaky and clearly showing that I was trying (and failing) to cover up my dark circles. On other blemishes and spots it did sort of ok, but overall it was just a really crappy concealer.

What products have you been disappointed in recently?

xoxo Kayla

  1. Such a shame when this happens but really like these posts, at least you know what you're buying and get a review still.

  2. I've tried that concealer YEARS ago when I was hardly wearing makeup and didn't know jack about it in high school, lol. I don't remember how I felt about it though. I don't think I cared. Because I didn't know anything about makeup lol

    1. Bahah that's hilarious. Sometimes I think back to the products I started out using and I can't help but laugh because now I know how terrible they are!
