What 1 Year of Blogging Has Taught Me

Really I should say what the past six months of blogging has taught me because until six months ago I was sincerely only blogging for myself. In the past six months I've seen my readership grow, engage, and have seen myself improve in tons of different ways.

  • Readers will come eventually. Be sure to have something worth reading when they do.
  • The blogging community is wonderful.
  • You can make friends with a lot of bloggers who share the same interests as you.
  • Scheduling and time management are a must.
  • You can work a full time job and post daily on two blogs. See above bullet point.
  • There's always room to improve your photography.
  • If you're getting bored or feeling uninspired, mix it up and try something new.
  • You need to blog for yourself and only yourself. Views and comments are just an added bonus.
  • You'll face a month or two plateau where nothing happens and you don't know why you're even blogging. Fight through it because the other side is amazing.
  • I don't know a thing about blogging or how to do it "the right way"
This past year has been an amazing journey. I'm trying desperately not to be cliché, but I'm feeling myself failing so I'm just going to end this here. Thank you for reading this blog, commenting, and enjoying the content I create. I'm excited for Year 2.

xoxo Kayla

  4. So much to learn on blogging! Time management and scheduling is really tough - I gotta get disciplined! but all the best for the upcoming year!

  5. Great learning points! I definitely agree you have to blog for yourself. And that you can find inspiration from other blogs but can't ever compare your blog to someone else's.

  7. I second on the blogging for yourself and that I also have no idea how to 'properly' blog half the time! But that said, your blog is pretty fantastic! xxx
