Hautelook Exclusive Lip Beauty Bag

I may have gotten a bit over my head when purchasing the Hautelook Exlusive Lip Beauty Bag. I saw it on Hautelook for $10 and just couldn't pass up getting six full size products. Plus I figured it would be the perfect opportunity to get my hands on some red lip products without having to pay full price for them. Let me tell you, red lips are definitely not my thing.

The only lip product I've really gotten along with thus far is the Laura Geller Italian Marble Lipstick in "Sugared Maple" ($18). It retails for more than I paid for the bag, so at least I got my money's worth! It's probably the prettiest lipstick I own. That marbling is just beautiful. I was a bit worried when I first opened it as it is quite the brown looking color, but on the lips it's a glorious purple nude shade that looks incredibly flattering.

The rest of the bag kind of goes down hill for me. These reds are red. And incredibly pigmented, which is good, but not for someone who is new to the red lip world and makes a lot of mistakes. The only red thus far I've been able to sort of work with is the LORAC Lip Lustre Gloss in "Ruby" ($15). Being a gloss it's more sheer than the rest and it leans more on the raspberry side of things. The applicator is basically a nub at the end of the stick though which is definitely not ideal.

The Mirenesse Glossy Kiss in "Flirty Kiss" ($29.95) is the orange red of the bunch and seems like a product I can get along with once I have some practice. However the Mirenesse Lip Bomb in "#2" ($39) is downright terrifyingly red. Plus I just can't get over how expensive it is. The packaging is heavy and fancy, but the product inside is almost blood red it's so bold and dark. I swatched this on my hand and that's as far as I could go. I may give it away in a giveaway if anyone is interested.

When looking at the bag the Lord & Berry 20100 Lipstick Pencil in "Fire" (full size $16) attracted my attention and pushed me into making the purchase. I've heard about Lord & Berry here and there and when I saw it's beautiful font in the photo I couldn't resist. Yeah, the font got me. I'm a sucker for a good font. This is another red product that leans more to the orange side of things. It's fairly matte with a bit of shimmer in it. I have faith that I'll be able to at least wear this one.

Finally there was a NYX Lip Liner in "Ruby" ($4.50). I haven't had much luck with their pencil lip liners in the past (waxy and tugs) so I'm curious to see how this liner holds up. Plus I think a liner is a must for keeping a red lip in place. Hopefully it helps make these red lips possible.

The bag also came with a lipstick holder, an La Fresh Lip/Eye Makeup Remover Packet, and a Swoon Lip Gloss Reusable Wand ($15) that I'm not crazy about. The Lip Gloss Wand is supposed to be used to get the last bits of lip gloss at the bottom of a container, but I will never use enough lip gloss to ever use something like this. It's an ingenious product for a lip gloss fanatic though! I'm not a fan of La Fresh products in general and a lipstick holder seems a little too old school for my liking.

I am however incredibly excited about the Crown Brush Lip Liner ($1.94) Brush and the Makeup Bag that everything came in. The bag is the perfect size to carry brushes in and I love the print.

Overall the Hautelook Exclusive Lip Beauty Bag was definitely worth the purchase despite not being crazy about a few of the products. I think I want to giveaway the products I'm not interested in keeping, so let me know in the comments if you'd think I should set up a giveaway!

Also let me know how you wear a red lip. I can use all the tips I can get!

xoxo Kayla

  1. Wow, so many lovely products for such a cheap price!

    Mia xx

  2. I wish I had picked this up, I adore red lipsticks! Is this still available by any chance?
The only advice I can give about wearing red lipsticks is to just go for it - maybe wear it around the house and see if you like how it looks then. It's definitely a pretty bold look, but reds are just so classic and lovely.

    1. That's some really good advice. I just need to start wearing them little by little and I'll be a red lip pro in no time!
