Omiyage Washi Tape Haul

It's safe to say that after this haul, I'm set in the washi tape department. That definitely doesn't mean I'm going to stop buying it though as I have no restraint whatsoever when it comes to stationary supplies (or anything adorable really). I'm switching up my planner once again and have been scouring the internet looking at photos of planners using washi tape/decorations for inspiration (like this Pinterest board). I'm still figuring out how I want to decorate my planner and what ways I want to use washi tape, but I've had my eye on the for quite a while now. I'm hooked after this first purchase.

Before even getting into the tape can we just talk about how the package looked? It was in a regular padded shipping envelope, but inside was this adorable pink bag with omiyage stamped on it and washi tape closing it off. I'm not ashamed to admit I peeled that tape off and put it on the box I'm now storing my washi tape and planner accessories in (anyone interested in a show and tell post?). I squealed. Out loud. And I hadn't even seen the tapes yet.

Not sure what tapes I wanted (the website has an amazing selection, the best I've seen), I decided to order one of their Washi Tape Grab Bags. Much to my ignorance these bags are only offered randomly throughout the year and I just happened to get lucky enough to be able to pick one up (I'll keep you posted on my Twitter if they happen to pop back up again). These bags contain roughly 7-8 random washi tapes for $15 and you don't know what you're going to get until you open up your package. I received roles of Poppy Red Washi Tape ($3), Fruit Illustrated Washi Tape ($4.50), Golden Music Masking Tape ($2.50), solid baby blue washi tape, bow washi tape, brown and white striped washi tape, and vintage music-esque washi tape. I was only able to locate a couple of the product pages online, but I'm assuming the Grab Bags take a hodgepodge of different tapes left over, from current collections, etc. Oddly enough I think the Fruit Washi Tape has to be my favorite. It's adorable and bright and not something I would have purchased on my own.

I also ordered the mt Slim Twist Washi Tape Set A ($4.50) and a role of the Salmon Pink Check ($2.50) more or less on a whim. The whole order was on a whim honestly but I couldn't be more excited to start playing with all my new tape in my planner. I've already used them to decorate a few letters and I'm eager to get even more pen pals just for an excuse to use the tapes.

Omiyage has definitely become my go to place to get washi tape, now I just need to find a good shop for stickers...

Oh the problems I face...Also if you're interested in seeing how I organize and store my planner decorating materials and washi tapes, check out this post.

Do you decorate your planner or use washi tape in craft projects? What's your favorite thing to craft?

xoxo Kayla

  1. I love washi tape! I have a small collection of my own, haha. "Cute tape" and etsy also have a good selection! I like using mine to tape up instax photos :)

  2. These are so cute and I saw some in a Japan store the other day and regret not picking any up. My favorite out of the bunch is the bow print since I love bows but I don't know what I would do and decorate with them either.

  3. Completely loveee them! I have too many of these and I don't have the heart to use them. Hahah! Yours are so pretty! (:
