Falling Off the Skincare Wagon

In the interest of full disclosure, I've fallen off the skincare wagon. Hard. Toppled right off the backside of it and have laid in the mud for far too long. My skincare routine and I haven't seen each other in an alarming amount of time and this post more or less serves as a slap on the wrist to myself and an encouragement to you to not be like me.

I'm blessed with very good skin. Minimal blemishes, fairly normal to slightly dry skin that doesn't make a fuss or fight with me. I definitely take it for granted and this good skin is probably why I don't pay as much attention to a regular skincare routine as I used to and should. I went through a phase at the start of the year when I went skincare crazy. I filled a bin full of wonderful products and enjoyed my evening and brief morning visits to the bin to pamper my skin. But I honestly can't see a difference between my skin then and my skin now. I know that regularly washing my face and taking care of my skin is important, but there has never been obvious changes to my skin to encourage me to keep going.

I think the only way I pull myself out of the mud and back onto the skincare wagon is by creating a very simple, easy to do no matter what routine that only uses a couple of products. My excessive skincare excitement was my demise. Now I have to rekindle my relationship with this beautiful bin of products and get my skin back to where it needs to be, regardless of if I see any obvious improvements. Here's hoping that this post written with my head hung low will be a wake up call to myself and my bad skincare ways.

What's your skincare routine like? Do you sometimes find yourself falling off the skincare wagon?

xoxo Kayla

  2. Oh yes, this has happened to me. Usually, all of the sudden I'll get a spot or two, and I'll be back right back on the skincare wagon.

Sometimes it helps me to invest in a product that feels luxurious and that I look forward to using - my last skincare purchase was the Ole Henriksen Truth Serum, and I actually love it. x

  3. I definitely fall of the wagon, but I like to keep things quite simple regardless. I do notice a difference when I slack off, though.
