Why I Use the Erin Condren Life Planner Hourly Layout

Why I Use the Erin Condren Life Planner Hourly Layout

With so many different types of planners out there to choose from, I always find it interesting to hear exactly why someone sticks with a certain layout in particular. I for one am still smitten with the Erin Condren Life Planner in the hourly layout after a good solid year of swearing left and right that the vertical layout was the one for me. So why the change of heart? It's kind of paradoxical.

I love the structure of the hourly layout, but also the ability to ignore it if I want to. The vertical layout had a lot of freedom with three main categories to work in, but the hourly layout is just plain and simple. The days are broken up by times and I like not having to compartmentalize my day into categories. But I also like being able to completely ignore the times and just do my own thing. I definitely do not wake up at 6am and my day doesn't end at 7pm, but I just cover those up with washi tape or stickers. It's so easy to cover up anything with stickers and use the entire daily space for whatever floats my boat. Structure and flexibility in one nice package depending on the day.

Plus the hourly has lines, which makes the whole writing, keeping stickers straight thing so much easier. Sadly the monthly view no longer has lines, but being able to just jot things down on a line or two without worrying about it being straight is such a relief. I personally like to write on the planner itself as well as stickers, so this is just an added bonus.

I'm not going to say that I'll forever be an hourly layout planner girl, but there's a good chance it'll stick around for a while. It's so easy to use and takes a lot of pressure off on days/weeks I'm just not feeling it. There's a planner layout for everyone!

What planner layout do you use?
